Sri Chinmoy (1931–2007) was a modern meditation teacher who introduced the practice of meditation focused on the heart center. He was a prolific creative individual, known for his meditative style of paintings, poetry, and prose writing, as well as for composing elevating music for meditation. An inspired weightlifter and runner himself, he founded the global torch relay for world peace – the Peace Run. His life was entirely dedicated to meditation and work for peace. Sri Chinmoy wished to be remembered as a student of peace.
